Best ClassPass Fitness Studios in Dallas

If you are not familiar with ClassPass, it’s a great way to try new workout studios and sample a variety of workouts with one, easy membership. You buy credits each month and you can spend them at tons of different studios all over most major cities in the US. When I first moved to Dallas, this was how I found new studios and kept my workout routine interesting.

ClassPass is also how I attend workout classes while traveling to different cities without having to purchase a one-time class credit or find a studio on my own. Here are my top 5 favorite studios:

barre3

I fell in love with barre3 when I lived in OKC, so I was excited when a convenient location opened in Plano. barre3 combines Pilates, yoga, and ballet movements with exercises of their own to create a full body plus cardio workout that is sure to leave first timers sore and satisfied.

The entire barre3 concept is based on positivity and making the exercises work for you. They are big on modifications or options so that each person can choose what they need that day. Maybe you need to step it up a notch or maybe you need to take it a little easier and show yourself a little kindness.

Every single class is different, but the classes follow a similar flow (for example: warmup, legs, arms, core, cooldown) so that you know what to expect. If you have tried other barre classes and didn’t feel it was for you or felt intimidated by the atmosphere, I encourage you to try barre3 and see if you discover a better, more positive experience.

Side note: this water bottle with a straw is on my wish list - the straw makes super quick water breaks way easier.

Lync Cycling

I got into spin classes during the summer of 2017 and loved it. I would get up at 5 AM, drive to the studio, bust my butt in a killer spin class, and then shower and change right at the studio. I really enjoyed the loud, energizing music, the positive encouragement from instructors, and the feeling of accomplishment after the workout was complete.

The room is kept dark, which allows you to forget about the outside world and just match the rhythm of the music and the intensity of the group.  I appreciated that when I was new, the front desk staff took the time to show me how to set up my bike, clip into the pedals (you need special shoes, but you can rent them), and followed up with me after class.

The modern locker room and shower area allows those that choose to work out before work to get ready and leave for work straight from the studio. There is only one shower, but people move through quickly, so you can still shower, get ready, and be to work on time.

Caution to first timers: these classes are not for the faint of heart. However, there is no shame in dialing it back a little. Don’t compare yourself to others. You showed up and you got on your bike - I consider that a win! You will notice that the more often you go, the better you are able to keep up. You will also need a seat cushion if you are not used to riding - no shame in that game!

Horizon Hot Yoga

I have been a lover of Yin for several years and I discovered Horizon Hot Yoga’s Yin class after my previous studio in Plano closed. The instructor, Elenna Heroux, is truly talented and (full disclosure) a good friend of mine. Elenna is incredibly knowledgeable and is always keeping an eye to make sure your positioning is correct. I always leave class feeling relaxed and centered, something that is harder and harder to find in our ever-increasing busy world.

Bodybar Fitness

I highly recommend this Pilates studio for those waiting to try using the Reformer for the first time. The Reformer is a piece of equipment traditionally used in Pilates. Although the machines may look intimidating at first, the instructors will walk you through and make sure you don’t get hurt. The instructors at Bodybar also bring a welcoming and energetic mood to every class, which makes the entire experience more fun.

Class sizes are small so they can pay close attention to the newbies, ensuring a safe yet challenging workout. The music is not exceedingly loud, and it is a good mix of current popular songs and oldies but goodies. There is not a large cardio component to this workout, but the class targets different muscle groups and you will walk away knowing your time was well spent.

BEYOND Pilates

These classes will kick your tush! At BEYOND, the music is pumping, the energy is up, and the instructors are knowledgeable.

BEYOND classes also focus on reformer-based workouts that target the full body with a cardio component. Be prepared to sweat and leave feeling accomplished.

Don’t forget your grippy socks though – they are a must have for class. If you forget your socks, they also have a cute selection for purchase.

Bonus: Restore Hyper Wellness + Cryotherapy

While not a traditional “fitness studio”, I’ve included cryotherapy in this post because cryo is offered through ClassPass. The credits needed for a cryo session make it a pretty good bargain when compared with buying sessions directly through the various cryo studios.

I was new to cryotherapy and a little nervous when I first came to Restore. The gentleman behind the counter put me at ease right away. He walked me through the process, so I didn’t have to guess or feel out of place. I won’t lie, it’s cold!  However, it’s over before you know it and I felt invigorated and refreshed after my session.

Cryotherapy is definitely not for everyone, but if you are looking for a new cryotherapy provider or if you are simply looking to try cryotherapy for the first time, I would recommend giving Restore Wellness a try. (I’m not a doctor, check with your healthcare provider before trying this if there are any medical concerns or questions!)
